Trailer: Introducing The Creative Couples Podcast
Welcome to the Creative Couples podcast where we share stories and insight to support creative work in marriage.
What is the Creative Couples podcast?
The Creative Couples podcast explores the unique dynamic between marriage and creative work. We want to help couples be better creative workers together and supporters of each other’s work, so we’ll share insight, struggles, mistakes, wins, losses, and anything in between that we’ve either learned or are learning as we work together. We’re also going to learn from other guest couples we have on the show.
Each episode is either a short conversation between co-hosts and partners, Frankie Orella and Spencer Holleman, on a particular topic or a longer conversation with our guest couples.
Who are the hosts?
Spencer Holleman grew up in Virginia and played music in different capacities through high school and college and then moved to Nashville after college, which is where he met Frankie.
While still a lover and hobbyist of music, his full-time job is in healthcare marketing, where he does a variety of marketing and creative activities. Outside of that, his creative work is focused on freelance photography and filmmaking.
Frankie Orella is a songwriter and musical artist. She grew up in Nashville and started singing and playing music at a young age, influenced by her father who was a professional musician. Her career path has been unconventional, but it has consistently revolved around music in some capacity.
Together, Frankie and Spencer co-created her music brand and now the Creative Couples podcast is their next creative endeavor.
Disclaimer: We are not experts on relationships or creativity, but we are in a happy marriage and have managed to make a living pursuing creative work, so we hope by sharing our experiences and bringing you on the journey with us in the future, we’ll all be better for it.
Why make the Creative Couples podcast?
Early in our marriage, we had a few older couples who were great models of a partnership that wasn’t just in the home, but also in their work together. It seemed like the couples who successfully worked together also had the best marriages and families.
That’s something we wanted to pursue in our own marriage, and we think there are a lot of couples who also want a deeper partnership by creating together.
It is difficult to work together when you’re also married, and it can cause unwanted stress and strain on the relationship. But that’s why we wanted to create a podcast where couples could get better at it, and hopefully make more meaningful creative work together.
Who is the Creative Couples podcast for?
Anyone who does creative work with their spouse or has a spouse who does creative work. But it’s important to note that we don’t want to limit the word “creative” to the arts.
We believe creativity is needed in all areas of life, so even if you’re not in an art-specific industry, we want this to be helpful for you as well.
While our personal perspective comes from being married and creating together, our hope is that anyone who does creative work or is in a relationship with someone who does creative work will find a home in these honest conversations.
